August 21, 2016
Well after much todo, I’m condensing the blog here since August 8 into this post and we’ll pick back up from here. On August 11, my Father called quite early in the morning, and told me that my Mother had been “really sick”, which was odd because I’d spoken with her recently as a couple days prior and there was nothing wrong with her. He said she “lost her words” and he thought she’d had a micro stroke. Needless to say I stayed home from work to take her to the doctor, she had refused to go to the hospital the night before. Without going into too much hoopla, the doctor set her up for an ultrasound of her carotid artery and a CT scan of her brain on Monday, the 15th. I was beside myself trying to figure out why she couldn’t get it done right then, and asked the doctor what to look for. He said ‘well, a stroke’. Great.
We were all on pins and needles til Monday when Mom called to tell me she was all clear. No stroke. What was it that caused such confusion and loss of words? Probably nerves and stress. She fell some months ago and bruised her sciatica nerve causing severe pain and some loss of mobility. She can get around, but she has pain which causes her legs to get tired and she can’t walk much after that. This has kept her sort of home bound (but not totally) and it’s really worn her down.
I’ve been running the cameras consistently and have seen nothing. Even during this stressful couple of weeks, nothing seen or heard. Work has been especially stress ridden, but nothing I couldn’t handle. Lisa too. So, we’ll pick it back up from here. I did and EVP session live on Facebook which I’ll be uploading as soon as I get my new transfer HDMI cable – and we’ll get back trying to entice things a bit. I am somewhat surprised nothing happened during Mom’s episode. But aside from missing work one day, it didn’t really throw me out of routine that much. Stress though, was through the roof.

After much experience, my conclusion is Monday’s suck. Average Monday, kicked out a work project pretty quickly. Lisa and Cody had average days, but Cody got some good career news – might be working soon in DC. This is problematic for many reasons if he decides to take the job. Had to have a lengthy talk tonight about his options. A person very dear to me, who I consider like my adopted daughter got engaged over the weekend – she and her fiance’ deserve all the happiness that brings. Very excited for them both. Lisa and I are tossing around the idea of some kind of Facebook live event for Project Oculus – like a Ouija Board session (which Lisa won’t go for) or an EVP session. EVP may be the way to go – upload the audio immediately for everyone to review. Then do another during meteor shower and see if there’s any difference.
P.S. – I woke up on the couch after 2am and there was “Ghostly Encounters” on. Usually this would give me the slight creeps being awoken by startling music and sound effects. But I wasn’t really bothered.
August 7, 2016
Sunday already. Ridiculous how fast the weekend goes. Lisa and I are both tired, unusually so. I stayed up really late last night and am paying for it today. Visited Lisa’s Dad for a couple hours, and went grocery shopping. Whoever is reading these posts must be exceedingly bored by now. My work is done. 😉
August 6, 2016
Typical Saturday, nothing to report. Mounting a plan for a small experiment with the meteor showers. Did some yard work and skipped the trimming. Picked some peppers and started them in the dehydrator.
August 5, 2016
Normal day for me and family. Starting to slowly drift away from routine as much as I can. Have been watching a few paranormal shows, which I haven’t done in years. Ghostly Encounters w/ Lawrence Chow being one the best out there – it’s filmed in and around Nova Scotia and other parts of Canada. Doesn’t jump to ridiculous nonsense, it’s just people relating their accounts with light re-enactment vignettes. Powerful stuff at times. Cody related that in the morning hours just before Lisa left, that they both hear and tremendous ‘bang’ on the left side of the house. Cody said it seemed to be right outside his bedroom wall. No explanation.
August 4, 2016
Some moderate stress at work, but nothing I can’t deal with. Busy season is upon my department and there’s nothing to be done about that. Lisa and Cody had their normal day, nothing to report.
August 3, 2016
Average day, nothing to report. As a side note, will be interesting to see if there’s any increase in any activity due to the Perseid meteor shower coming next week.
August 2, 2016
Politics in this country is out of control. Lisa and I had a long discussion about how much we really need to know about the different controversies. It feels like you’re saturated, and I think both of us need to unplug from news. Average day, nothing to report.
August 1, 2016
Average Monday, nothing to report. I’m trying to prepare (somewhat) for the modifications to my own routine – it’s not easy to lose your routine and still make your responsibilities.
July 31, 2016
Bounced around the house, got a green pepper plant – again another left to rot at the local nursery, but he’ll be good in a few days. Rained, but a good day. Thinking now is the time to shake up the routine – I mean really shake it up. I think we’ve explored the calm enough and now is a good time for me to try some different things and see what kind of reaction we get. Maybe in a few days.
July 30, 2016
Great Saturday. Some rain, but I got the garden tended to and some harvested veggies in the dehydrator. Got a new pepper plant who was left to die at Home Depot – he’ll be back to health after I get him some water and then let him dry out again. I’ve really gone wild with growing fruit and vegetables this year – I’ve forgotten how much fun it is. Fun, relaxing day.
July 29, 2016
Average all around. Barkley is still pissing on the new floor, but we know he’s sort of a problem child and we have to work with him. Nice relaxing Friday night. Did nothing, went nowhere. Glad to have the week over.
July 28, 2016
Worked on some artwork derived from a video game I’ve become re-obsessed with ‘Red Dead Redemption’. What a fantastic creative work this game is. Just captivating, and inspiring. Regular day at work for Lisa. Cody and I. I guess at this point, we’re in as regular and routine a mode as we can get into. You’ll note that the briefs here have gotten more brief. Unless there’s life events, or notable events, this is pretty much going to be it.
July 27, 2016
Exhausted. At this point the week could be over and I wouldn’t mind. This election nonsense is a killer for your nerves. Lisa and I sat raging on the couch for about an hour tonight about how clueless the media is, and how aghast we both are at what is going on. It’s just unprecedented for such racism to be on public display…and to be validated by half our political body. Other than that, an average day and nothing to report.
July 26, 2016
Busy week at work ramping up. House is running hot, even inside. Almost makes me wish for fall. But, not. Nothing significant to report. One of the dogs is having behavioral issues with peeing on the new hardwood floor. Really trying our patience.
July 25, 2016
Heat seems to be letting up a bit, at least not quite as humid. Altogether an average day, not anything significant to report. My son got some good news today about work – that was pretty much the only bright spot for today.
July 24, 2016
Heat was horrific. Probably the best baseball game I’ve ever been to though. Lots of balls into the crowd…and…bats. Right. Bats. Chris Davis’ bat hurled into the crowd early in the game due to wax melting on the bat most likely. Went WAY up into the seats. Then late on, another by another player went to the opposite side. Crazy, hot. Big crowd, O’s won on 9th inning after being tied. Awesome. Dad, being 80 tomorrow? Handled the heat better than any of us. He’s amazing. Laughed all the way through it, left his seat once to go to the bathroom. I couldn’t handle it nearly that well. There’s nothing more to the day. Once I got home, I got showered and flaked out on the couch until bedtime. My afternoon, evening was spent unconscious. The heat takes it out of you. Supposedly worse tomorrow. Ugh. Lisa did housework while we were gone, and relaxed without two slobby men in the house. A great day really. Despite the heat. I know I’m lucky to have a great Dad like I have – but even luckier that he’s still here. He’s worked hard all his life owning a mechanic’s garage, and still gets up at 5am and works until 7pm, Monday through Friday. He’s trying to sell the garage and retire, so that’ll be big changes all too soon. The Ritzmann’s live a long time. The longevity in the family is ridiculous. I’m all too happy about that.
July 23, 2016
The heat is *really* bad. In Maryland, especially near the water as we are, a brutal day of heat means an inevitable storm in the afternoon. That was the case today, but, no ‘storm’. Just rumbling and lightning, which scares Barkley (the smaller beagle) to no end. I put the entire potted garden into the studio (the building on the outside camera) to save it from a pounding. But then, nothing. A short moderate trickle. No yardwork – lawn didn’t even need cut. Short and even like a golf course. You’d have passed out in 20 minutes – forget it. We stayed in and watched TV and I played Red Dead Redemption. Going to Orioles game tomorrow with Dad, Cody and his friend Jake as part of his 80th Birthday. Will be raisin by 4th inning.
I wish I had more to type but there’s just nothing to write down. A typical Friday, exhausted from the week, the heat and Saturday looms with outside lawn cutting, trimming and edging. with the heat it’s going to be brutal. XBOX ONE made one of my favorite games backwards compatible from the Xbox 360: Red Dead Redemption – so streaming tonight on Twitch went into double overtime. Got to bed at 5am. Because anti-structure.
The work week is almost over, and work is starting to get busy gearing up for fall (fall is our busy season for the most part). Lisa has gotten through her busy season, being far ahead of the end of year holidays. Football season is always hectic for me, and I never look forward to it (I hate football). But, at least I have steady work as an artist in it. Went to bed fairly early, all slept well. Nothing unusual or out of routine.
July 20, 2016
Getting extremely hot these days, which isn’t unusual, but it’s getting to everyone a bit. I went to work as did Lisa, and both of us had a fairly good day altogether. I came home and did some vegetable gardening maintenance, and Lisa made dinner. I had an odd feeling last night going up to bed, just sort of uneasy. That said, I slept poorly, waking up a couple times during the night. Tired today, but the day wasn’t all that crazy.
July 19, 2016
Nothing much to report on the day. Fairly average for all of us. I did fall asleep on the couch again and didn’t awaken until late. Normal day at work, along with the moderate aggravations everyone has. All of us are quite irritated at the stupidity on display at the RNC. If fear is what promotes some level of paranormal phenomena, this week should be rife for everyone. So far, not me.
July 18, 2016
An unspectacular Monday. Hard getting up this morning, after working in the hot sun yesterday. It occurred to me how odd it was that the long conversation about experiences on Skype with my author – and the depth by which that discussion goes – results in moderate phenomena. I am running tests on the camera that captured the light to ensure it’s not a cam glitch (although the reflection on the ceiling kind of negates that, you have to be certain). So far no repeat. I have to check the feeds from the past 2 nights at the same time. There was thunder and lightning during the day which was over, and by the time I got home the sun was shining. Lisa had no real issues today, and typical day at work and nothing significant to speak of. I went to bed early, around 1:30amET.
July 17, 2016
Had a long day of yard work. Our house was previously owned by an older couple, and the wife’s life pursuit was lush gardens and privacy via trees and bushes. She was so much into rare flowers that there’s still imported bulbs in the ground that continue to bloom to this day – we can’t event tell what some of them are. It’s not surprising that the gardens with all the flowers were featured at one time years ago in Better Homes and Gardens. After she died, her husband wasn’t able to keep up with her passion and the grounds fell into overgrowth and such. We’ve solarized land, and gotten things under control for the most part after the grounds were let go wild for 2 years. This weekend I cut back some trees and pulled out vines by the tens of yards long. Rough in hot weather. Last night after hours on the phone until 5am we captured the small white light that appears on the ceiling – which was extremely gratifying to me as anyone who’s spent time here has seen it. Tonight we went to bed fairly early.
July 16, 2016
Got up this morning and went to bank, some jackass just about broadsided me in the parking lot for not watching where he was going. I ranted for some time about politics with Lisa but then realized she is really getting sick of seeing me unhappy about the state of everything. I tried to stay positive an we went and got some jalapeno pepper plants, another tomato plant and an eggplant…plant. I don’t even know if I like eggplant…but the little one on the plant was cute so I bought it anyway. Came home and planted them, then it rained and thundered like crazy. Lisa and I went out later to Home Depot and got some soil and went to the mall. All in all not a bad day. Stayed up tonight until 5am with my book work, internet is spotty due to line outages so cams running very late tonight.
July 15, 2016
Quick work day, Lisa got home before me and we ate and decided we’d go to Home Depot tomorrow and get some more vegetable plants. I’m really inspired by the tomato plant we bough a couple weeks ago that now has 20 tomatoes on it. I fell asleep on couch until 3:30amET, so cams only ran a few hours. Outside cam ran as usual, all night long. No events to speak of at regarding house.
July 14, 2016
Average day at work, for both Jeff and Lisa. Both of us have commented that this week feels like it’s dragging, but tomorrow is Friday. I had a hard time sleeping last night, but was exhausted this morning, making for a sluggish day. No events at the house, all quiet.
July 13, 2016
Normal day at work with a writing project (which I don’t normally do). Day went quickly as I was so busy. Lisa’s day was average at work and she was home long before me, as I had to stop and get a haircut on the way home from work. Didn’t get home until after 9pmET ate a piece of pizza and flaked out on the couch not long after. Woke up at 3:30amET turned on cams and went to bed. I had a hard time getting to sleep, despite being very tired.
July 12, 2016
Couldn’t have been a more boring day. Work dragged on, went straight home. Ate. Bed. Everyone in the house remarked what a lame dragging day it was. We did get to eat Lisa’s wine roast dinner, which was a perfect pick me up at the end of a long day. (UPDATE: As a side note, it rained this night and the enclosure I bought for the camera along with the enclosure box I built kept it dry and safe. I think it’s going to work out fine, but I’ll still be bringing it in during harsh weather.)
July 11, 2016
Work was relatively ok, most of the day doing concept work for new product. Came home exhausted, played on XBOXONE with my son and his buddies for a few hours, and then got tired and watched TV. Fell asleep until 3am, got up brushed teeth and went to bed. Lisa’s day was stressful at work, but nothing overly crazy. She came home and read, took the boys (Dogs) out, made me something to eat and went back to her iPad until bed. Pretty uneventful day for us all. Nothing to report in the house.
July 10, 2016
Hot day, very humid. My son had fun with his friends today, pretty much all day long. Lisa and I went grocery shopping and I was angry as a hornet most of he time (hate crowds, had headache). Took Lisa’s head off a couple of times, which is unusual. Just a pissy day I guess. Lisa is heading back to work tomorrow after a week off. Got the housing installed for the outside cam and build additional housing and mounted to post – I feel certain it’ll be ok in the general weather, but for storms it’s coming inside just to be safe. It’s secluded inside the trees with ample cover from sun and rain. Cooked out on the grill and had a good dinner. Headache gone, and getting ready to send out the email to tell everyone we’re live.
